Keep in mind that not the gamma on its own counts. The gamma or tonal
response of the display calibration must match the gamma/tonal response of
your working space in photoshop. If not, you´re loosing a lot of levels due
to the gamma transformation between display profile and working space in
photoshop.
Workingspace vs. Gamma

sRGB -> sRGB or Gamma 2.2
Adobe-RGB -> Gamma 2.2
ECI-RGB 1.0 -> Gamma 1.8
ECI-RGB 2.0 -> L*
