I have been struggling to get acceptable color from my new P221
spectraview monitor running on osx 10.4.11.
When calibrating to the photo defaults of D65 2.2 and 140 candela the
result is a very pink finder and pink photoshop. This is using the NEC
wide gamut puck and software.
I called NEC and they sent a new puck right over and it also calibrates
pink. When I use my optix xr puck with the spectraview software the
calibration is much more neutral, almost perfect.
I have read that Andrew says to simply edit the white point to mach the
viewing booth but I was hoping for better, more trustworthy color with
this setup out of the box.
Should I just edit the white point?
or just use the optix colorimeter??
or get an eye exam???
any advice?
I have also used a different computer running 10.5 and had the same pink
results with the NEC puck and good results with the optix.
as an interesting aside but probably not relevant..my CRT's would
calibrate pink if I tried to use D65 in profilemaker or Optix. Instead I'd
go through the calibration till i got to the part where i would then
adjust color to D65 , then back out of the calibration and change the
white point setting to monitor native and build a profile. This would
eliminate the pink cast but doesn't seem possible with the spectraview
system.
