Both Edmund & Derek provide what I think is the best advice: Set up a
dedicated printing computer (either a dedicated rip or just an old mac
if your old workflow was working for you) and don't tamper with it.
System updates by Apple, driver updates (or lack thereof) by Epson or
even updates to dedicated RIP software can and will change the
appearance of prints and should be approached very cautiously if at all.
I've seen it on this list a number of times and in the real world with
several clients and my own proofing RIPS. Installing the latest and
greatest update on machines that run mission critical prints or proofs
is a bad idea. Just wait and see what people on these lists are
saying. Is there a compelling reason to upgrade at all? Consistent
color is a very delicate balance and a butterfly in Brazil can throw
the whole thing out of whack, much less new software.
