Actually, Martin, there are a lot of substantial new technologies in Photoshop, but as Andrew pointed out, not much can be said at this time.
If you want a preview, Adobe has released a couple of videos highlighting some of the technology. It's incredibly cool. Maybe not for you, but for the rest of us. No one will force you to upgrade, of course. You can stick with Photoshop 5.5... ;-)
