Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard: I never encountered any trouble printing testcharts and profiling inkjets using those versions of the Mac OS.
One possible reason may be because I NEVER am an early adopter, and by the time I "adopt", fixes and patches may have been introduced that fix whatever trouble there MAY be.
I have always kept up with the latest updates to the OS that I do use at any particular time, and made sure to install the latest printer drivers -- and, like I said, I've had good results so far, without having to resort to workarounds.
If you, or anyone, insist on being early adopters of new versions of the Mac OS, or absolutely must use a new printer model the very moment that it comes out on the market, then it is very possible that not everything will work as it should.
