If you want optimum quality on a printing press from quality images or otherwise, you would do best with a color expert in the workflow. Those who don't understand the value of an expert of a process usually make the process more difficult than it needs to be and end up accepting below average results.
Randy, I appreciate what you are saying, and it certainly represents the
approach of many if not all of the knowledgeable people on this list.
But after well over a decade of attempting this, it's simply not
happening. Taking this position merely irritates the clients, they
consider it a waste of time, energy, and really don't give a crap about
the process or the results any more.
Let's just say, attempting the help them "understand" is not working out
all that well for me, so I'm done. The world I'm functioning within,
they didn't buy into it years ago, they never have, and have less
interest or budget than ever. There is certainly no return of any kind
for me to press it, in fact they don't understand why I'm still on the
phone... they have a thing with a guy...
Regarding the original post, I made the most knowledgeable decision I
could and got it out the door, best of luck to them.
Tyler
