I just came back from profiling an Epson 4800 (modified variant) on a
colorburstX rip, using edible colors.
Results were as good as they could be under the circumstances (which means
not that impressive compared with regular inkjet).
Cyan and Yellow was of a reasonably density, however magenta and black were
hardly pigmented at all. And that was the dark inks...
I had to balance the inks to avoid iridescent green "blacks", after which it
was impossible to print anything more saturated than pastels.
The marzipan can't absorb much ink or it will mottle and not dry.
The question then is does anyone have any real life experience that will
improve the circumstances?
I guess this would mean another RIP (that does not use light inks and prints
with only CMYK - along with pigmented edible inks proven to work on
marzipan. Or alternatively something that is safe to use to coat the
marzipan prior to printing to prevent the ink to penetrate the marzipan
(much).
Anyone?
Cheers,
Thomas Holm / Pixl Aps
