I know how to work in a colour managed workflow
You will not be able to replicate my results if your MS Office is
either set up differently or different versions of Word behave
differently.
On the Mac version of Outlook Express you could make it ICC aware, but
not on Windows machines for example.
Microsoft are founder members of the icc, they are not clueless, its
more that they seem to have certain issues surrounding the words open
and vendor neutral. I heard from somewhere that they left the ICC for
a while but have since returned, I suppose it is possible that some
versions of Office are not icc aware and some are.
under Mac OS 10.5.8
Word X for Mac (which is getting long in the tooth)
On my system
as far as the screen
the images are presented honoring the icc profile.
Some list members seem to be experiencing the same behavior some are
not. It may be down to discrepancies in the way different versions of
Office handles colour, it may as you state, be down to pilot error.

I'll be convinced of your point once I can replicate your claimed

of your
procedure's steps. Until then, I remain not at all convinced.
This behavior is also exhibited in Powerpoint.
How would you expect it to behave?
You mean, a color-savvy application like Microsoft Word? I expect it
to
behave cluelessly, and, as far as I know, it does exactly that.
