Hello,
I have a question for the group. I know from regularly reading the
posts here that many of the members have used, calibrated, and worked
with a range of wide format ink-jet printers. We are replacing an
older Epson wide format printer (7600) and are deciding between the
Epson 7900 and the HP Z3200. 24 inch units in both cases. I've seen
prints from both. They are both good. Grayscale from the Epson looked
funky but I think it may have been an issue with how the demo unit was
set-up. The prints from the HP made using self-made profiles were a
bit closer and had a better tonal range. Paper handling and print
speed are better on the Epson. Epson may be a bit better made? HP has
other good points. I would appreciate hearing opinions from members of
the group that use either unit, including detail on RIP used if
applicable and profiling. Our work is primarily focused on
reproduction of fine art and works on paper. We also print a good deal
of B&W from film scans.
Thanks in advance.
