Thom:
I have the exact same problem and have had it with 10.5.6, 10.5.7 and
10.5.8. I am also on a Mac Pro, dual quad core 2.26MHz computer with 16 GB
RAM. I run Adobe CS4 and LR.
I have spoken to Apple about it, and they didn't have a solution. We tried
resetting the CMS chip, but that didn't work. Ultimately, they stopped
trying to solve it and stopped calling me back—they said nobody else had the
problem. But…another tech I spoke with acknowledged that they had seen
comments about other users with similar problems, so somebody is not being
straight. Your case is exactly the same, so I am convinced it is an OS
issue.
Like you, it only happens after the screen saver have kicked in. It doesn't
happen every time the screen saver comes on, but the ONLY time it happens is
after the screen saver has been on. I've tried all sorts of work arounds,
but nothing has worked so far. I am reasonably confident it is some
interaction and bug between the OS and the screen saver.
Like you, I have Display Preferences in my task bar, and simply opening it
causes my correct profiles to re-engage with the proper monitors. It's
mainly an irritation, but a persistent one.
Please send a note to Tami Becker at Apple and complain about this issue.
Her email is email@hidden. You can mention my case number, which is
147492169. I'm trying to get her to follow up with their higher level people
and get this problem solved.
