On the other hand, I don't see how this message is relevant to the subject raised by the initial posting in the thread, which had to do with the terminological distinction between the expressions "metamerism" and "color inconstancy".

While considerations having to do with areas of color science outside what is strictly the thread's subject are indeed interesting in and of themselves -- and I have no reason to believe that Mr. Rus intended them in any way other than in a helpful manner -- they nonetheless represent a distraction from the topic proposed by myself as the original poster.

If we wish to discuss the nature of the human perception of color, we may want to start a separate thread. If, instead, we intend to stay focused and debate the terminological issue at hand, then we should do just that. For that purpose, I hardly find it necessary to go as far as to discuss the very definition of what forms the human perception of color.

I mean that as no disrespect to Mr. Rus, who is NOT the one whose good faith is in question.
