Hello. I have one machine with Windows XP and another Mac.
ProfileMaker Pro
for Mac. I tried to profile the monitor for the XP machine by moving
it to
the Mac, build the monitor profile, then moving the profile to the XP
machine. The profile is named xxx.icm, I right-clicked to install the
profile and it was copied to the correct location. Of course, the
monitor is
connected to the XP machine again. I went into the display control
panel,
settings, advanced, color management to select the profile as the
default
system profile, but the profile did not show up in the list and I
could not
select it.
Have I missed a step? Can anyone help me figure out how to get this
monitor
profile recognized on the XP machine?
Since a display profile compensates for both the display, and the
videocard, building in on another OS, with a different card does not
offer the same degree of correction as building in on the correct
system, as well issues with the VLUT data and losing your hardware
settings. If your display profiling product is cross-platform, and you
can download the version for the other platform for free to use with
your same serial number, then you are all set to profile both systems.
If not, you aren't really in a position to calibrate both systems.
