Hello Ken,

Had one for a few months now.
Overall, very satisfied with it.

Pros:
Gamut: very close to AdobeRGB (the primaries are almost spot-on)
Once profiled, it easily met the IDEAlliance monitor proofing requirements (which is a smaller gamut of course)
Uniformity and CCT: meets ISO 12646 (see report below)
Very good Angular FieldOfView characteristic of IPS panels.
No bad pixels.
The multiple inputs (HDMI, DisplayPort, etc) enable you to share the display on mutiple computers.
The USB hub on the monitor side is very convenient to plug a memory key or a spectro.
Price

Neutral:
Black level characteristic of IPS panels (i.e. contrast not as high as some other panels but this is not a requirement in most cases)

Cons:
Profiling is not trivial
Not possible to tweak the CCT in all preset modes except "Custom color". However, I used the default "Standard" preset mode and i1 Match, and the results are very good. My White Point is close enough to D65 to meet ISO 3664 (see report below). The "Custom Color" mode enables you to tweak everything, but without info in the Dell Help, I did not look into it.
I have not looked into profiling software that could take into account the U2410 hardware. Is there some?

Note:
The generic monitor profile provided by Dell is seen as broken by Photoshop (but would be useless nonetheless, since this monitor would require multiple profiles that correspond to its various gamut modes).
Some users see a tint when a neutral background is displayed. No such problem with mine. It seems that this was a problem with early devices, and particularly with the ones Assembled in Europe; the units assembled in Mexico, for the North-American market, seem to ve less prone to the issue.

for accurate, consistent and precise colors." Does anyone know specifically
what they mean by this?

It comes with a one page report giving test data.

Subject: Dell U2410

Hello. I had recently recommended the Dell 2480 WFP monitor for our
mid-grade color workstations and they have been working out quite well. I've
just learned that this model is no longer available.

Does anyone know how the Dell UltraSharp U2410 compares to the 2480? Is
there anything anyone can comment on about this monitor? Viewing angle,
color gamut, etc. (the usual suspects...)

One feature they list on their web page is "Factory Calibrated: Be
enthralled by the first Dell monitor that is color-calibrated at the factory
for accurate, consistent and precise colors." Does anyone know specifically
what they mean by this? My assumption is that they create a custom profile
to provide instead of a generic one. I'd still want to do my own calibration
because I'm assuming that their target specs are different from what I would
calibrate to, but I'm just curious about this.

Finally, is there a different model that anyone can recommend that would
make a comparable replacement for the Dell 2480 WFP?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide!

Ken Fleisher
