No offense, but I think this has become pretty obvious from the rest of your responses.
Your advice is great for fine art photography, but attempting to adapt those techniques to art reproduction is an exercise in frustration -- which is why those of us who *do* do copy work are so puzzled by your posts.
A typical modern workflow for copy work -- even one based on digital cameras of whatever format, let alone spectral imaging -- is dramatically different from the workflow for fine art photography, and addresses all the concerns you raise and more I strongly suspect you're not aware of. And, I think I can safely state that, despite the fact that HDR is a very useful tool for the fine art photographer, it is worse than useless for copy work. It addresses problems that aren't even on the radar, and greatly exacerbates the worst problems we face.
Frankly, it's rather like somebody asking for advice on trailer hitches for towing a boat, and having a race car driver insist that nothing but a Ferrari is suitable for driving on the twisty mountain roads leading to the lake.
Cheers,
