I have had several notable people tell me that this spectro
is the benchmark that all others are compared to. Is this just a
nostalgic affection or is there a legitimate reason that anyone is aware of?
As I know, Spectrolino has the spectral module similar to SpectroEye.
It's slow (ECI2002 takes 1.5hour), but the sharpness and repeatability
of this device higher than modern i1 measurement module.
My old Spectrolino (1998) has average 0.6dE and max 1.1dE deviation from
XRite NetProfiler card (13 patches). It's more than Spectrolino passport
tolerances, but I think it's ok for such old device.
Also Spectrolino with SpectroScan is very flexible measurement device.
Old green Spectrolino had measurement aperture 3.2mm, purple Spectrolino
had 3.5mm, so it can measure patches up to 4-4.5mm.
It's possible to use Spectrolino with POL filter, so it can be used as
densitometer for press control or as measurement device in ink
formulation and mixing laboratories.
