You can have it all (and more) in one instrument, but at a price.
Claas has explained it all in his post.
And, no, compensating for OBCs in software is not possible. It may
look like a contradiction taht we do it in basICColor print as well,
but this is only guesswork. If your spectral reflectance exceeds a
factor of 1 in the blues, you can be sure that optical brighteners are
present – but there is no way to determine, how big the effect is.
This is only possible, if you compare an M1 (with UV in the
illuminant) and an M2 (UV cut) measurement. And the Konica Minolta
FD-7 is the first (and presently the only) instument capable of
measuring under M1 conditions. With this instrument you don´t have to
guess, what your viewing light is, just measure it and use it as the
measure illuminant.

I'm not quite sure which spectro to get: UV cut or not? Does the new
i1 Photo Pro compensate for optical brighteners in software? I do
use some papers with optical brighteners. Just got an Epson 7890. My
viewing lights are florescent D50, so I'm sure that they have some
UV content. Can I get some suggestions to help me decide.
Thank you all. Best regards.
