I think that it might be a driver/OS problem.

We started getting this after going to Snow Leopard on the rare occaisions that we needed to bypass the RIPs and print direct to both either Epson 9600 and 9880. The RGB white is OK, but the area extending from the image area to the edge of the paper size set in the driver prints with what looks like a 1% cyan dot.

Most of our images are printed via a RIP so we just extended the image white to the page edge as a workaround.
