Hello Tom.
My question, therefore, is two-fold: how crucial is the color of the
table tops in a color managed workspace?
It is important because you will adapt to the white/grey of the table. If
too blue, then you will tend to see your prints too yellow. Inversaly, if
too yellow, you will tend to see your prints too blue.
You could just place a few sheets of unprinted paper (the same paper used
for the prints) around the images. This is ideal if you paper is not
fluorescent.
However, if this paper is fluorescent, then it will be equivalent to bluish
furniture. Placing non-fluorescent paper around your prints may not be a
good idea in this case since your prints will look bluish.
...where can one find tables that are truly neutral?
Why not black?

Subject: Another Try at Workspace Furniture
Hello!
I sent this email out a couple weeks ago and got no replies, so I thought
to try sending it out again. Let me know what you think, please!
I'm a professional photographer who is finally setting up a true color
managed workspace and I have a question about the furniture in the space.
I currently have a work table with a "white" top which, of course,
actually has a lot of yellow in it. So, I've been considering replacing
it with a table with a gray top. But all the gray tables which I find in
office furniture stores actually have a lot of blue in them. My question,
therefore, is two-fold: how crucial is the color of the table tops in a
color managed workspace? And, if it is crucial (as I suspect it is!)
where can one find tables that are truly neutral? Thanks for your
feedback!
