Randy,
I'd almost bet some folding money that somehow or another your problem is coming from the transition between sRGB and Adobe 1998 somewhere. And my question would be: Why bother?
Didn't you say this client was an architect? Just remember, architects don't sell prints, they sell buildings. And while Adobe 1998 has some distinct advantages over sRGB if you're selling prints, I've never seen those advantages needed by an architect. First off, most architects print renderings in pretty neutral tones. They don't much care about gamut advantage of Adobe 1998 over sRGB because they're never going to use it. They also typically have a lot of users who are going to come and go, and who need a clean, simple, bullet-proof path to get consistent results. Introducing a basically unnecessary colorspace transition is just asking for problems. For that reason, I always set up architects as sRGB only.

That was not the reason. I encourage all who want more accurate color creation to put a viewing booth or lamp next to their monitor. If the lighting causes problems I point it out and tell them they have to accept it or change it. While this case is typical with lighting making "pinky grays", the warmer red/brown shift was so evident, I had to write this group to see if there is a way to solve or edit this color shift.
