Since PSCS4, Contact sheet & picture package are "additional add ons":

If you use Bridge > output module to create a pdf contact, make sure you
enable color management in the prefs...

Contact sheets were moved to bridge. You can always make a contact sheets in bridge since ver 4. It works fine in ver 4, 5.0 and 5.5.

The issue is resolved, CS4 Contact Sheet II needs to be pulled over to CS5. Previously I had moved CS3 Contact Sheet II, and had been working fine.
Some update somewhere made a difference. I'll never know why.
Good reason for me to kind of stay put with my software.
