Matt,

Illustrator is kind enough to provide an embedded profile mismatch when the
placed image's profiles is different from the working space which makes it
possible to retain the embedded profile. But make the choice I am no longer
able to find what the profile was? It's not visible from any dialogs or
windows that I can see, not even those suggested by Bill Whitfield and
Stephen Clark, which pointed to the XMP data as, obviously, Illustrator has
no interface to make this information viewable by the user, for some reason.

I checked out the Advanced section under XMP File info and I did not see any
reference to some ICC profile :(

Thank's for your help / Roger

As I recall there is only one colorspace for an Illustrator document and
everything NOT in that space gets retagged with the document profile.

Maybe it is obvious but I'm not finding a dialog or some panel in Adobe
Illustrator CS5 where placed content's ICC profiles can be displayed. The
Info palette (F8) cannot show this, unlike InDesign's Info palette. The
Links palette cannot show ICC profiles either, unlike InDesign's. Document
Info only shows the ICC profile for the Illustrator document itself.
I found out that a dialog box comes up when placing a new element and there
is a profile mismatch but that's all.
Once the content is placed it's impossible to recover the profile anywhere.

I don't dare dig into Adobe's Forum yet on this subject.

Any help is appreciated.
