Spotted this error and posted about it here in February 2008:

Found the original files when checking some old drive this afternoon and wondered if this was fixed in CS5 (the links in the post above still work).

It isn't.

The PDF isn't as bad as it was back in CS3 but the left hand image still falls short of the trim area at the bottom of the page.

I'm sticking with CS4 and Distiller -- because I like the page elements to remain where I placed them before creating a PDF....
