Although no one has commented on it so far, doesn't the fact that my monitor
has its own hardware LUT also help ensure that four Macs can share the same
profile? Wouldn't the monitor harware LUT also make this setup work with
analog/VGA connections, since the video card shouldn't be involved?

If you could, then yes. Since different video cards have different digital to analog
conversions, the VGA signal sent to your hardware LUT will be different,
depending on the video card in each Mac.
