The preferences are asking if certain measurements being used should be those taken at the factory or with your instrument? With the NEC branded instrument, (or a Spectrophotometer), you may be better off with the setting that uses the actual calibration sensor. But with Colorimeters that do not have matrices that expect a wide gamut device, you’ll probably want to have the setting on as the factory measurements as they are probably more accurate.
