Figured it out - just after sending last email, of course.
If anyone is interested, the trick was to go past the Patch Set page in i1Proflier to the Test Chart page. When you hit "Page Data - Save" from that page, there is an option to save a text file in Profilemaker5 CGATS format. ColorPort can import that file just fine.
I must say, i1Profiler sure is an 'interesting' exercise in User Interface design...
