FYI - this is a cross post to similar posts I sent to PrintPlant.
I once heard Steve Upton say (my paraphrasing) - If the customer pays you for the job, then you have successful color management. Not discounting that pearl of wisdom, I am wondering if anyone would like to share the numbers they received when "G7'ing" an HP 6600 press using the Esko DFE software. I have concerns with the numbers I was able to achieve.
The Esko software allows one to build Color Strategies with a source profile and a destination profile. I ran a P2P; used a version of SpotOn! to identify correct densities; created curves to gray balance and then ran the Esko profiling module to create a profile.
I then built two strategies. One has GRACol 2006 as source profile and my profile as destination, and the other has my profile for both source and destination. My numbers are below, with the first number from the strategy that used GRACol as source and the second number from the strategy that used my profile as source.
As a side note I will say that both strategies print images that look very close to a GRACol 2006 proof. So, que es mas correcto, match proof; match numbers; or customers check? (credit, maybe apology, due to Saturday Night Live writers)
