Thanks everyone. The firmware password is fine. It's the user password that I have somehow, not on purpose, I messed up.
For now, I am re-installing Mt Lion with an USB stick.
Agreed this is not a colorsync issue. And, all of you know much much more than me. Your assistance is priceless.
