There's really zero reason to do so! Go through another color space conversion for what? About the only advantage of Lab here is it's self defining (aside from it's white point assumption which is generally D50). A tagged ProPhoto RGB document from the ACR converter is what it is, why would you want to go into Lab? Brings nothing to the party but more time lost and (dog forbid) in less than high bit, a lot of data loss.
Lab has been hugely oversold.
