as has been mentioned there was Doctor Pro from Horses/Colorvision?...
it worked precisely this way and worked very well including the use of
adjustment layers. I used it for a variety of conventional and none
conventional purposes like editing partition curves into profiles for
multi density monochromatic inkets (quadtones) in faux cmyk mode.
I still fire up and old Mac once in a great while and use it. I don't know
what the Kodak software could do that it could not... but I know some
people who might be interested to know their software is still
appreciated..
