Profiling through the VNC connection should work end to end. Just verify
it with a false colour profile. Assign it in the windos CM settings to
the monitor and restart PS. Colours in Photoshop should then alter. Here
is a test profile:

If that succeeds, then one can rely on ICC colour conversions being
performed in PS on windows. Just be careful to no alter CM settings on
the Linux machine, which will affect the VNC viewer.
