Well, I made that assumption as well.
Maybe it depends on what accuracy level you're aiming for.
If I remember my numbers, the tracking error for neutrals was in the
range 0.5 - 1 dE.
The camera noise level was much less than that.
I lack standard deviation numbers for the spectral measurements
though. (who does?)
