Roger,
I am very familiar with the Starproof rip, and I have gotten excellent results with it. Starproof is unbeatable if you require a true dot proof. Starprof does not simulate a printing dot but uses the actual 1bit tiff files from your own rip, so what you see on the proof is not just "a" dot, but "the" dot…the actual dot that makes up your printing plates. It predicts morie behavior accurately. Because all color management takes place with the actual printing dots, there are no extraneous dots. Highly recommended.
(Full disclosure, I am a Starproof dealer. I have access to other high quality proofing rips as well that produce accurate color, but not other rip that I know of provides actual rip-created dots with high color accuracy).

Anyone ever heard of this RIP? Good or bad?
Best / Roger
