Hi,
I'd imagine it's possible to replace the batteries. Opening the unit isn't
hard - 3 screws and 2 sticky labels. The main thing would be to replace them
with the correct chemistry and capacity. You certainly don't want to
put NiMH batteries in if the charging circuit is expecting NiCd
for instance!
In my experience such replacements don't often last as long as
the originals though - often cheap replacements aren't of the same
quality, and/or the charger isn't really matched to them very well.
