I had a similar issue with i1P's multicolor charts, where large portion of the patches were devoted to dark overprints that had little practical value for the sort of brand-color work we were doing. Fortunately, it accepted other charts with a better balance of colors for our purposes. In spite of the stern warning message issued upon importation of the third-party charts the profiles were superb.
If your goal is to get by with few oatches overall, e.g., speed up the profiling of many devices, you might consider that you also have more CMY patches than you need, and a smaller chart than the IT874 might be perfectly fine for your purposes.
