Well I just made a print and it didn’t. Targets printed from the plug-in without a profile and those printed from the ColorSync Utility don’t match (I wish I could attach a photo here), and it’s the CS utility that’s not printing them correctly, because of the iPF drivers silly 'special casing' problem.
The only way I could see this printing correctly from the CS Utility is if you’re using Doyle’s special XMP hack that lists the ColorSync Utility as an application that’s available for printing without color management. Without this ‘special casing’ hack, the ColorSync Utility won’t print targets correctly.
Like you said, it shouldn’t be this hard.
