I'm recently retired from the industry, and initially picked up a Canon Pro
100 for home use. It's prints are equivalent to those made on my previous
IPF 8300 and 9100 printers. The ink carts are a bit small, and therefor
it's expensive to run. I recently purchased a used (Craigslist find) HP
Z2100 for $250. After replacing the heads (4) and inks (8), as well as a
new belt and rear carriage bearing, it's now in very good shape and
printing very well. One feature of the printer that I find helpful is that
is has an eye1 spectro and profiling software built in to the device, which
can generate an ICC profile and upload it to your host computer.
It was an economical solution, handles 24"rolls as well as sheets, and ink
costs are under control using a quality third party ink. Color me happy!
Parts are readily available, and head replacement is literally a snap.
Hope this helps
