Somebody had a problem getting the pan parameter to do anything when
using the AUMixer AudioUnit. Currently, the pan parameter only works
if the mixer input is mono. It is ignored if the input is stereo.
Ideally, in the future we would like to see pan work even for stereo sources, but
in the meantime it's possible to use an AUDeinterleaver to split
a stereo bus into two mono busses which then feed into two mixer inputs
(mono) which can be independently panned as on an ordinary mixing board...
