Disappearing static pops

  • Subject: Disappearing static pops

I hope this isn't a common request to this news group... looking up "static"
or "static pops" in the archives was not very helpful.

Here is the situation. I have written a small Cocoa application that
records from the default audio device (my Labtec USB microphone), plays back
to the default output audio (Apple's stereo speakers).

The problem is that I seem to pick up a lot of static pops when recording.

What is really strange, however, is that if I start another application that
records from the microphone (in this case Sound Studio 2.0.1), I can now
record into my application with no static pops.

o my application -> static pops
o Sound Studio AND my application -> no static pops
o quit Sound Studio, and the static pop noise comes back when recording

Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Thanks,

Todd
