Hi Peter,
There is a very cool app called MidiMonitor
http://www.snoize.com/MIDIMonitor/

Have a look at Versiontracker and Audio category, there are some more good apps, e.g. MIDI patchbay etc.
Or compile an example MidiMonitor by Dough :-)
