This very much sounds like what I get when some part of the system isn't
able to keep up. There are probably a handful of buffers involved, any
one of which could be glitching. Make sure you don't have any power
cycling or reduced processor speed options turned on in the energy saver
panel, but beyond that, no idea.
No, I don't know of a voltage filter (at least short of building a small
board yourself), but I think the comment from Griffin probably pretty much
rules that out anyway unless you have just the right combination of iMic
and laptop models.
