I've heard similar noise when I've let cables with poor shielding get too
close.... I'd have described that as more of a frequent chirp, rather than
a (generally periodic or random) pop.
Perhaps a slight clarification of the FAQ would help folks to distinguish
between electrical artifacts and a software hiccup. I could see how
people could read the FAQ entry and waste a lot of money on unnecessary
hardware or repairs that didn't solve their problem.

Or to sell your iMic to someone with an unaffected system and buy a new
one. Saves money over a powered USB hub, and a lot easier to use on an
airplane if you like to do that sort of thing. :-)
