I am confused by these two different modes, and the presence of the Edirol
driver. I purchased a UM-880 at NAMM specifically because it was alleged to
work with the generic driver in OS X, and I am hoping that these generic
drivers will save us all from the headaches that drivers have presented in
the pre-OS X years. The ReadMe for the Edirol driver alludes to "additional
benefits" provided by using the Edirol driver, but nowhere can I find any
description of what these benefits might be.
Short question: why would I want to use the Edirol driver if the UM-880
works with the generic driver?
