In Jaguar we will have a GenericAUView component that will display the
parameter settings for any audio unit.
We don't have any such service on a 10.1 system.
However, the mechanism is there. You get the information from the audio unit
about the parameters that it has, their range, etc, then using that
information you can display sliders, etc, to a user.
We've done a lot of work in improving this in Jaguar including:
(1) Ability to specify Factory Presets
(2) Ability to save the current state of an audio unit and reinstantiate it
(User Preset)
(3) Ability to provide names for parameters that are indexed - for eg
different envelope shapes for an oscillator.
(4) More extensive information about parameters
We will have (and I know I've said this before and so I have really zero
credibility here:) sample code that hosts units, etc, as well as base
classes for doing views of units and the code that does the generic view,
available in an SDK (as well as utility classes for playing and recording
files, etc). As soon as we've got some time from more pressing matters,
we'll be cleaning this code up and making it generally available.
