I'm using my iBook as a convenient development box for my audio
software and it has a major problem with the internal device
(mic/speakers) callback dropping samples. [The rest of this is predictable
details.] As with the previous posts about feeder threads, my experience
with the problem mainly comes from dragging or resizing windows while the
internal audio device is running. I was hoping that Jaguar would fix it
but the version I just received isn't noticeably improved in that respect.
I'm wondering if there are any recommended temporary measures that might
be able to cover this up for me without significantly altering how my own
threads are treated. The reason why this is such a problem for me is
because comparing how my application performs when recording from the
built in microphone with how it acts on my PowerMac G3 with an external
audio interface gives me completely different results on what parts of my
application need work. I can't test things as well on the iBook because
the device callbacks break down before my code has a fighting chance to
break. Thanks for any advice.
