What device? I've never seen one without a name.
It is the devices and entities I get with MIDIEntityGetDevice() and
MIDIEndpointGetEntity(). (Yes, it's the 10.2 developer release!):
Asking for the name property of the returned references (entities and devices,
which are not NULL!) doesn't return a string reference (while it does for the
endpoint).
When I get a device or entity with MIDIGetDevice() or MIDIDeviceGetEntity()
everything is fine!
Another thing about name concatenation:
What actually would happen if I conected two identical MIDI interfaces to the
same machine (couldn't test it yet myself)?
Something I didn't understand completely about ids and persistence:
The routing of my application has to be persistent across machines in the sense
that if I connect the same (kind of) MIDI interfaces to another machine and
reload my routing it should just work (the best way it can).
The ids wouldn't help me for this, right?
One more thing:
It seems to me that virtual sources/destinations don't have an id in 10.1 while
they have one in 10.2. Can you confirm this?
Thanks
Norbert
