Hi!
How is it possible to code/decode MPEG formats on hardware with core audio ?
We have already written a core audio driver for linear soundcards
with IOAudioFamily,
but we would like to support hardware coding/decoding MPEG1 MPEG2
(and eventually MP3)
with our sound cards.

Perhaps it'd be good to use the CFPlugin framework for hardware-accelerated stuff?

I predict AudioUnits will be a festive arena for plugin developers, and there's no reason that plugins shouldn't have the capability to do hardware acceleration directly...

So I would recomment just making your hardware AudioUnits-friendly, and then building an MP3 Codec using AudioUnits that plays nicely with all the other AU's in the system.

(Sorry if this has already been discussed - I'm catching up on email that interests me ...)
