Sound Input in OS X

Hi,

I was hoping for a little help with sound input on X using the Carbon Sound Manager. I'm using a beige G3 and a 2001 iMac as test machines (I'm updating a VoIP app). I've figured out how to get sound from the microphones on both Macs. The problem is I'm testing two machines side by side and rather than get an earfull of feedback I'd rather play a CD on one machine to test my app. Is it possible to capture CD audio input with the Carbon Sound Manager in X?? Or with some OS X specific code?

Thanks,

Chris McKinnon.
