Bah, I'm an idiot... why have an extra thread active when it's just sitting there looping and eating CPU cycles... just do what Josh said originally Scott, make a new thread whenever you need to run MIDIPort-related commands, maybe pass the constructor a selector to tell it which group of commands to run, and then let it run them and die. Why do I always overlook the simple solution when a more complicated one will do...

Anyway, sorry for the spam... I'm still a little rusty... haven't done any programming since I got out of college last year... I'll stop posting now, I promise...
