Shaun & Jeff,
I obviously have similar needs as Shaun does. IMHO, for devices that can
possibly do it (and well behaved devices/drivers should do it) the GUID or
some other identifying info should be persistent and truly Globally Unique.
Shaun, FYI, the GUIDs for Mobile I/Os are persistent and globally unique, so
you can track devices with this data and you can recover the AudioID using
the GUID.
Unfortunately, there are classes of drivers for which this just will not be
true.
