There is a way of doing this when using the DLSMusicDevice directly.
There's a property to turn off the internal reverb and instead it
creates an extra output bus as a reverb send for an external reverb
(if desired). Also coming up is a global parameter to adjust the
reverb global reverb level.

We are not adding new functionality to QuickTime music. To have finer
control, please use our new APIs....

It would be nice if there were a way to turn off the reverb (so it is bypassed completely) when using QT music. This would save on CPU usage. Among other things, I use QT for playing my metronome.
